My wife and I bought our first campervan in April and have been away 3 times so far, getting to know her. In September we're planning a trip down to the west country, through Wales up to Anglesey, and wandering back to Sussex. Looking at about 3 weeks.
What I'd really appreciate is some useful tips on things to consider when planning such a trip - things like the most useful organisation(s) to join, how to book decent sites, whether you'd advise strictly adhering to a pre-arranged itinerary or just stopping by the roadside wherever we end up at the end of the day.
All contributions gratefully received!
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
We have a small campsite in Mid Wales, our camper van visitors are a mix of those who book and those who don't. The ones that don't have more flexibility and as long as you don't need electric for the odd night you would find somewhere every night to stop. If you book the whole trip it can become very rigid.
I would suggest looking at your route and pencilling in any really nice sites you would like to stop at, and taking their phone numbers with you.
------------- Visit Llandrindod Wells! Great scenery, walks, cycling, red kites. Ideal for exploring Mid Wales.
Thank you K! That sounds sound advice. I'll have to track down your site. I visited Llandrindod Wells many many years ago when visiting Wales as a child and am very much looking forward to this return visit
