Over the October half-term we're looking to take our little van up to Chester so we can visit the in-laws. We'll be staying for a few nights, and would like to do a stop off of a few nights either side, to entertain the children (aged 7 &10, they love seeing their grandparents but both are housebound/warden accommodation so nice to find something a bit more focused on them too).
When we travelled the South-West this summer I read on here about 2 sites I'd never heard of that were really destinations on their own (River Dart and Woodlands). Are there any sites along those lines that wouldn't be too much of a detour between Ashford and Chester? If we can't find anything we'll probably save the money at a C&CC CS and visit somewhere nearby. We're English Heritage members, thanks to being just down the road from Dover Castle, so will definitely take a look at what they have for us to see too
many thanks
Keri
------------- Finally made the move to a caravan in June 2013, after working our way from a two man dome up to an eight man trailer tent. Proud to be members of the crappy caravan club :-) Adventures so far in 2013... Canterbury, Salisbury, Paignton, Minehead & Weston-Super-Mare
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
You could try Kingsbury water park or one of the many cl's locally. Handy for Drayton Manor theme park. Also good access to canal system for walking/cycling
What about Wickstead Park, near Northampton perfect for a 7 and 10 year old they have a campsite and its relatively cheap not everything may be open but the main things will be, for example the boats etc might be put away. If you all have bikes there is loads of parkland to explore on top of the funfair, bear in mind it's no Alton Towers but great for your two.
I presume the camping will be open over half term it is cheaper Sunday to Thursday but note there is no EHU. I think they have fireworks on the 2nd of November and they usually have a pumpkin trail for Halloween.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
