I can understand that slimjim, it is very commercialised for sure. Each to their own :-)
Visited Haggerston a few times over the years & kids have loved it & it ticked all the boxes for keeping everyone happy no matter what the weather was doing. But last time was in Aug 2010 & it was horrendous, dirty, overcrowded & very noisy. My daughter who was 9 at the time said she never wanted to go back either which suits me :-)
We stayed at Springhill Farm this year and have booked to go again in may. Its a lovely site near to Seahouses and lots of things near to see and do. A friend of mine has stayed at Haggerston a few times and loves it. Personally I don't like large sites with entertainment etc.
I love the huge Northumberland beaches, but check your tide tables to choose the best day and time for going to Lindisfarne - once we couldn't get over to the island, another time we had to twiddle our thumbs over there as it was high tide when we'd had enough.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
