We got a last minute booking for 14 nights at C&CC site at Moreton, good weather so extended stay for another 3 nights as site was less than half full when we arrived on June 10th. Weekends had a few more in but at the latter part of our stay it was about half full. Our membership expired on June 30th and was not renewed. May we'll rejoin if the club sorts it's self out but I doubt that will happen.

Vectratot what did you think of the Moreton site? We are staying there in the summer in a tent. Which bit of the site would you recommend for a long stay? We like quiet without loads of people treking past our pitch

We have always chose a pitch just behind the top toilet block [5 holidays] as we don`t mind the train noise. In a tent you might be better off at the lower part of the site as center part is sloping, have a word with Paul and Sue site managers great couple and very helpful. We love the site and this year we used the trains most of the time, never went in the Frampton Arms at the entrance so can`t comment on that. Discovered a site near Wool station not to far away from Moreton so looks like a possible for next year. Train ride to Weymouth is much better than taking the car

We have used this site several times, a lot of the site is sloping, but flattest is top near toilet block.Railway line runs close to top of site, but usually they do not give you much choice where to pitch.

Thanks for the advice. We are there for 23 nights so really want a flat pitch if possible. Hoping to use the train several times, must remember to add family railcard to my list so we don't forget it

purplebean,

If you want peace and quiet, then DO NOT pitch on the pitches behind the lower facilities block by the hedge.

That area was supposed to be quiet, as informed by the staff when I got there.

However, in reality, the opposite was true.

Kids could go into the hedge to play hide and seek, screaming their heads off, and some of them rode bikes just inches from my guys.

The pitch next to me was closest to the hedge, and he complained and told the kids off for making such a racket.

I would return to Moreton and stay as far away from the playing area as possible. However, I prefer Birchwood in Wareham which is my favourite site and not just in Dorset.

Having said that, your son would love the place, as the play area/equipment appeared to be well-used when I was there.

Enjoy your trip!

DK

Thanks DK. I am getting hubby to phone the week before we go so I shall tell him near the top toilet block and absolutely not the bottom one
