Our very first camping experience will be in the school holidays. I understand that most, if not all sites will be far busier this time of year but I'm looking for a site that has a strict policy of not piling them in. We were looking at the fisherground site as we have 2 young children (3&7) and this looked ideal but after reading reviews on here am put off by the overcrowding situation. I want us to really enjoy our first experience. We are willing to go either The lakes, north Wales or even Devon to find the most suitable site. We just want somewhere the kids will enjoy as in my experience, happy kids = happy parents! Thanks for reading

We've stayed at Fisherground on a hot June weekend and were one of the last to be let on. It didn't feel over-crowded at all. The toilets weren't manic either. It's a lovely site for children...ours had the best time and went pretty much feral!
Have a look at Parkgate Holidays in Irton - only a couple of miles from Fisherground. Campfires allowed. No 'playground' but plenty of space for the kids to run around plus they're welcome on the farm as 'helpers'. Parkgate is a bit more off the tourist trail than Fisherground.
