Just came back from Freshwater in Dorset but didn't take the rods, probably going to Golden Cap next week to try for mackerel .

Watermouth Cove north Devon, i have caught more fish off that site rocks than any other place i have ever sea fished, when my son in law when with me he also said it was the best he had ever been. http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=2721

At Watermouth we found the best was at the tip of the rock as water enters into harbour as the tide was comming in.
Tried mackerel fishing from Normans bay last week - no luck, nor did I see anyone else catch.
I was on feathers, there were others with spinners and some with static baits.
I do not know if the warden was joking, but stated " that will be the seal then".
Technically should be good as off high tide you will be in a fair depth of water with dropp offs and silt to cast too.

Blanked at Golden Cap, at Ladram Bay now....nothing from shore but hired a boat for an hour and at last, 8 mackerel caught and straight on the BBQ for lunch!
