Click on this comparrison link.Appears that butane is dearer than your electric charge, but propane cheaper if you look at price per kilowatt

I think Janice might be referring to an oil-filled heater/radiator?

We use oil filled radiators and find them cheap to run, keeps the van nice and warm but takes a little while to heat up.-------------

The thing about Gas is that its a faster heat to start with - so may be worth warming round with gas then switching------------- Ang

We warm up with a small but loud electric fan heater, then switch to the background heat of the silent oil filled radiator. We've paid for the leccy, might as well use it (don't have a microwave or toaster or TV). And our gas bottles are small.

When we were on a seasonal we used propane at £25 for a 19 kilo bottle delivered to our home and no deposit on bottle. We also used it in the awning before bed but made sure the awning was well vented and the gas was off before going to bed. Early/late season having the awning heated meant we could use the extra space for a little longer.------------- Marilyn
