Hi - we are planning on buying our first caravan this summer and are looking for seasonal pitch or storage recommendations for SE Scotland. We live in Edinburgh but the ones I am contacting in Borders etc seem very expensive or don't accept vans older than 1999. This was a bit of a shock as we will def be buying a van older than that (not a tatty looking can, just a more mature vehicle!).

Anyone come across this barring of older vehicles? And can anyone recommend somewhere within an hour of Edinburgh that's not ridiculously expensive. Doesn't need to be a fancy site - don't need no pool! Just a nice, peaceful spot with a playpark maybe.

Try King Robert the Bruce's cave at Kirkpatrick Fleming. We are seasonal and the site does have some older van and they don't charge the earth.

I should have said that the site is near Gretna Green. May be not in the area you are looking for.
