going to a family party and want to be taxi distance, Seems to be a distinct lack of sites showing. I need a tent pitch. Anyone know of something I have missed

There's just WB holiday park (statics only) near Whitley Bay.

After that, you will need to 'travel'....

Caravans only. There is no sites close to Whitley Bay that takes tents.

Whitley Bay opened a touring section a few years ago, we were on site at the time. There is no mention on their website but if you give the park a ring they should be able to book you in.

Unless they have closed but it def opened whilst we were there, we asked about booking and they said to ring to book.

Old Hartley is still open as far as I know...

The way it gets 'stuffed', it would be a criminal offence if they did close it!

As for a 'wonderful area'??
