It depends what you want. For a basic no electric no toilet block site the CL at Baxterwood Farm takes a lot of beating. We used it a lot when my son was at the University there, it is surprisingly close in to the centre but really quiet and rural. If you want to walk there are trails that go for as many miles as you want leading out of the back of the farm.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013

Try Woodside Ridge, Kelloe, been open couple of years. nice site,   or High Grange, just off AI at Durham. minutes from Durham City. again good site Finchale Abbey, beautiful setting, next to Abbey ruins. couple of miles out of city, Some nice ones Barnard Castle and Teesdale . Now one near Seaton/ Houghton le Spring seems to have good reviews, called Croft site
