We are looking for a site/field to set up our awnings prior to going away for a "proper camping" trip. Do you know of any cheap sites close to Teessider that we could use to get sorted?

They don't need to have anything on, just enough space to get set up, the cheaper the better also :-)

Might be worth finding your nearest camp site, and giving them a ring?

Explain your plan, estimate how long you want the pitch for, and at what time of day, then take it from there.

Wouldn't surprise me if they said "Chuck a fiver in our charity box" or something similar?

Thanks for all your advice, we ended up doing a bit of 'rough camping' and used a derelict council field. Definitely a little different compared to our previous nights away, ha ha.
