A few months ago we stayed at Conifer lake site in Allerthorpe.
This was our third trip to this great site it has great facilities and is nice and quiet.Unfortunately all the camping pitches have now been turned into permanent caravan pitches leaving only two tent pitches under the trees.This has been done from a commercial view of permanent income for the owners. We understand why Graham and Alison have done this. Empty tent pitches dont bring any revenue in,but from our camping point of view,as much as we loved staying here.We feel sorry we dont now want to return to pitch in a shady corner under trees.We will always remember our 20+ nights there with happy memories.And wish G & A all the best.Im sure all members who stayed there will feel the same wishing them good luck, i know Mucker has stayed there a few times as well

They'd ripped out that central hedged "island" when we were there at the end of Feb. Plenty of other work going on too. Never gave it a thought they were getting rid of tent pitches!
We're not fans of being stuck in a corner either, and certainly not being pitched under trees, so I guess we'll be doing the same as you, welshy... wishing Graham & Alison all the best, thanking them for allowing us to stay at their wonderful site, (Think we're about the 20 nights mark too, having started with 11 nights in that central island pitch, then 3 or 4 weekends). We've been lucky enough to find other sites that, whilst not as quirky, are equally as enjoyable and welcoming, for different reasons, and of course, there are plenty of others that remain untried, but on the "short list".
Certainly a shame, despite trying hard to put a brave face on it!!
Yeah Mucker not good,we are now trying to find somewhere similar for next May.Adults only with fishing and somewhere to walk. Plenty of time to search i know but its going to be difficult.
If you've come across anywhere similar a heads up would be great.
We know how you feel. Conifer Lake has been our favourite site for many years. Although we understand why Graham and Allison are going totally seasonal we are very sad that we will not be able to go anymore. We are not ready to seasonal pitch our caravan yet so will also be looking for a local replacement site. We do wish Conifer Lake all the very best with their ventured hope it works well.
