My partner and I are desperately searching for UK a campsite for late this May. However, having had a break from camping for a fair few years (life getting in the way!)I now find that there are so many sites, even with the useful reviews on this site, I am literally overwhelmed with possibilities.
Now in our early thirties, as we haven't camped for a long time, our wants from a campsite have changed a fair bit from what we looked for as young 20 somethings! So, our old haunts are not so desirable.
So, we are a couple, in a tent, looking for a site in either England or Wales (can't really travel as far as Scotland). As we have no kids, we would prefer adult only or sites with minimal facilities for children. We are very laid back and enjoy a more minimalistic, back to nature approach, so wildlife, great views, campfires and an easy going atmosphere is what we are primarily looking for. That said, now we are a bit older, sites that are a bit like an impromptu festival aren't quite what we are looking for - I can't do all nighters anymore hehe. Location-wise, we are very flexible. I do want a toilet and a shower though :)
Can anymore advise on sites that may meet these criteria? As we have left it a little late, we have noticed that many of the 'Cool Campsites' are now fully booked! Eeeeekk!!!
Any info, help, or tips will be most gratefully received, thank you :D
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
Just a quick reminder for those who have missed or forgotten this:
Important: When posting details of a camp site, please ensure you link to their UKCampsite.co.uk listing, not direct to their website, to enable reviews etc to be read or left!
As karavanner says, use the campsite search facility, but i would put in adult only as late may will be half term!!!! Kids are lovely but sometimes its nice to go back to a quieter campsite!! (Ok i know adults can be noisy). This will at least narrow the choice down. Good luck
I meant to say when you have your search results ignore the certified locations as you have to be a member of the caravan club and these don't take tents.
I always fancied this site if I can persuade my other half to go under canvass for a couple of nights as they don't allow caravans. There's a pub close by too.
Quite a drive for you, but only down the road from us & adult only! Luxury wet rooms, local produce & meat from the estate sold on site, fantastic safari style open kitchen with a huge range cooker/fridge freezer & free range eggs. Lovely local pub at the end of the drive. You can even join in with the safaris while you're there.
Beautiful wildflower meadow to camp in...stunning :)
Back of Beyond - we had a look at this site when staying at another campsite close by. It looked lovely but as we still have a teen camping with us we haven't camped there.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
