Hi everyone.,
We are picking up our first caravan on Saturday, can't wait. After many years of sleeping under canvas we have decided to take the plunge and invest in a little luxury.
We are keen hill walkers and love the great outdoors and are very much looking forward to discovering Scotland. Having never visited before we would appreciate any advice on sites to visit. As an example, Glen Nevis has been recommended and looks very beautiful with plenty of walks and stunning scenery.

Thanks, Tony n Vanessa

Congratulations, Cannot recommend any sites as we only camp for weekends and don't go far, but as for not being to Scotland before, are you in for a treat!. Fabulous places. I love the west coast and the islands. I'm sure others on here will advise you. Enjoy anyway

Been trying to contact a keen hill walker friend who has a fair number of books on walks in Scotland but looks like she's away with no phone access. I'm sure you've googled and looked in the obvious places for information so won't insult you.   At Glen Nevis, you're only 40 minutes from Glencoe and some amazing walks there.

Come to Arran or Mull. Lots of walking & wildlife, a ferry crossing, varied scenery & plenty to do if the cloud's down.

Pinetrees Tyndrum. Fabulous location - 25 minutes from Glencoe, 45 minutes from Oban. Lovely scenery. Fabulous walks, low or higher level. Sits right on the West Highland Way. You could be there for a week and have a different walk each day direct from site without having to move your car. Two train stations taking you to Fort William or Oban or Glasgow in the other direction. Love it.

We go to the highlands each year on holiday. In sunny weather its the most beautiful place ive ever seen and in the rain there are spectacular waterfalls, in the snow its magical. You will not be disappointed I promise.

Thanks for all your advice and suggestions, makes us even more enthusiastic to visit.
Is there a particular time of year when the midges are at their worst or do we just have to put up with the little blighters whenever we go?
