Hello everyone. First time posting here :-) just had a great last minute get away at dinarth hall campsite in rhos on sea over the bank holiday weekend - as a result of it being one of the only sites i could find that both didn't take bookings and guaranteed availability - does anyone know of any others that have a no booking ahead policy and that have always/usually got space? Or any existing lists of these? Sorry if this has already been covered elsewhere I have looked but couldn't find anything. We are looking in particular for family friendly sites within a couple of hours of Macclesfield - so n wales, Peak District are ideal. Grateful for any assistance!

Golden Sunset camping fields at Benllech on Anglesey - a large site separated into different fields, space guaranteed unless it's August bank holiday but to be honest I wouldn't recommend going then as it gets quite manic, however after then or earlier in the year it's fine. No booking, you just turn up, fees currently £8 per person per night. Only five minutes walk into the village with its shops and pubs and just a bit further to a fab beach.

That sounds great - Anglesea was definitely on the list. Yes dinarth hall was a bit manic over the bank holiday too -so many people and a bit 'lively'.
One of the Oban sites, and Reraig further up the NW coast - both too far away for you. I must say, no booking AND guaranteed availability is odd. Both the sites I mention don't guarantee a pitch, not sure how a site can anticipate passing traffic.
Yep I thought it was odd too I guess if you are a very big farm site like dinarth hall you can make that commitment - like they say on there site they just open another field!
It got me wondering if anyone new anywhere else like that - expecting it to be rare!
