Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
I like sites which have woods with rope swings, allow campfires, and let you pitch where you like.
In the S / SE have a look at Nethergong Camping, Welsummer, WoWo (Wasbourne), Blackberry Wood, Palace Farm, and many others. I use the map function and search through the campfires filter.
Lots of space, no one cares about the size of your tent, But these sites tend to have much more basic facilities, and bizarrely can be more expensive,
Have a look at Shell Island? Tent size not a problem (they charge by occupancy rather than footprint) and you can pitch where you like as long as it's 15 metres from any other unit.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
