We've stayed at Bracelands but it was several years ago but we liked it. We've also had a couple of weekend breaks at Postern which is the one near Marlborough. Postern has no showers although it does have a toilet block. My biggest gripe with their sites is the charge if you want EHU. The last time I looked it was an extra £5 p.n.
If you're after a site in or near a forest, Birchwood near Wareham, in Dorset is nice and there's direct access to the forest and forest trails.
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
Although forest sites are nice I would hesitate in camping under trees because the muck and debris that continually falls off them, as well as bird poop, can ruin a tent and make a mess of a caravan roof. Also, if it has been raining, it continues to rain under trees for quite awhile after it has stopped due to the water falling off, and can be very noisy.
I have stayed at the Postern site once and I was not too impressed. The ground was in a bit of a state and because I wanted EHU I had to pitch in the areas where caravans and motorhomes usually pitch and having been wet some days before, the ground was a bit of a bog where wheels had churned it up.
Also the EHU pillars seemed to be scattered rather haphazardly and 4 pitches had to use the same pillar. Although the site was not very busy I had difficulty finding a decent place to pitch my tent where the ground was reasonable and I wouldn't be on top of somebody else's EHU cable. I had to summon the assistance of the warden who had to swap a few cables round so that I had space for my tent and could access one of the pillars. Not one of my better camping trips.
