Hi all, until we get a new(To us) caravan in the winter, we have decided to head down to the south coast with a tent and hook up. Rather that getting down in one night, could anyone suggest a decent site around half way for a few nights. Heading from Glasgow with a 5 year old grandson so somewhere that would keep us happy would be great. Planning to head on 7th July and see where it takes us as no hurry home.
Thanks in advance
Tam

I can't recommend a site as I live in the area so don't camp there but if you are coming down the M6, Chester is great and about half way. Your grandson would love Chester Zoo (very expensive, but great) and there are loads of other things to do in the area.
This might be worth a try - not far off the main road but peaceful, on a working farm so animals for the little one to admire (cows mostly). Basic but clean, flat and well-managed grass, fine for an overnighter. Convenient for all Chester's attractions. Zoo, Roman stuff etc. http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=2190
There are sites around the Delamere Forest area too, west of Northwich, but I haven't stayed at them so don't know what they're like.
For a tea/loo break, Johnstonebridge services just north of the border is pleasant, with a lake you can walk round for a leg-stretch. Further south, Tebay Services (independent, local produce etc) is also a good spot for a break.

Sounds like an adventure with the grandson.
If time is on your side, come down M6,M5 to south coast, travel along it, come back up the east side stopping off as you go.
I would love to do that sometime from Derbyshire, up east coast, across the head of Scotland and down the west coast.
Big ask at the moment, but what an adventure you could have.
I have met a few in motorhomes that have done that, maybe one day.
Good Luck tam
Enjoy it
PS Chester Zoo is a must
