Supposed to be camping at Eweleaze farm this weekend but the weather looks terrible. 40mph winds and rain on Friday and Saturday. Have 3 young kids, should I bother?

Is your kit up to it? Can you & kids cope with it & still have fun? Can you be bothered with dealing with wet tent etc when you get home?

Have the Kampa Studland so tent should be fine and also a tarp to cover a fire if possible. Kids prob ok, other half maybe. Sunday when packing up is forecast to be dry but if not going to have an issue drying stuff as won't be able to do for 2 weeks. Guessing mould would start to grow by then

Don't let the weather put you off.

We had to get creative a number of times when drying out our Kampa Croyde 8, which is the same size I think. We've dried it on a park, in a family members garden and even in the house at a push, although that was a pain it is aimed solid for two weeks.

Rain? No problem. 40mph winds? No way!! That is just the possible recorded wind...gusts could be a lot higher. Your kids, your tent, your choice...let us know if you survived

Joking aside, Eweleaze Farm is wide open to the elements. I wouldn't risk it.

Disappointing but I think that is wise. Netweather.tv are reporting 46mph winds on Friday night. Add that to continuous rain and an open field and it could be a bit of a nightmare break even if your tent can cope with it. There is always another weekend.

So we ended up going for 1 night. Definitely worth going, even with an 8 person tent!

The site was on lockdown on Friday and was pretty horrific by all accounts so definitely made the right decision.

Hopefully will get another weekend in this year
