I really wish I could be optimistic, but I think this year will be a write-off for camping and caravanning. Unless there is a dramatic medical breakthrough I can't see any sites opening this year, even if they are taking bookings. I am inclined to think that if they did and people started travelling around again, there would be a huge spike in cases of the virus, spreading all over the place. The problem will be those people who have the virus but don't realise it. They will travel to far flung places and take it with them.
If the government does allow sites to reopen too early, I don't think I will be making any bookings, as although I too am eager to hitch up and go, I don't like the idea of taking chances. I never want to go through again what I went through with pneumonia 6 years ago. Another dose of that would finish me off, so for me it's just not worth the risk.
------------- Best Regards,
Colin
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!

I am really hoping to get away in July but am not holding my breath. I am a university lecturer and we get 35 days annual leave a year but we cannot take it during term time (obviously) and I can’t take more than a couple of days at Christmas or Easter because although the students are off, I have all my marking and research to work on. So, that means that if I take a couple of days here and there, throughout the year, I am left with 6 weeks to take in the summer. This usually works well for us as we just hitch up the caravan and head to France. However, this year it may not be so good. I can carry 5 days over but I still have 5 weeks to take before the end of July! If I have to take 5 weeks annual leave and stay in the house I think I might just go potty! Keeping busy with work is the only thing keeping me sane at the minute and if we can’t get away, I will probably just continue with my research all summer and give up my leave.

My camper van is unlikely to be ready much before the end of September, and I am hoping to do some short trips not far from home to get used to her first before going over to France towards the end of the year if I can.
Not booking anything yet, however, I could start doing some research on suitable CSs as I have not joined CMC yet.
