Hi all hope you are well. Been a long time since I posted but had lots going on and have been unable to get out there. Now this Covid 19 has made it all the more complicated.

Used to be a camper but as I’m getting older my attention has been drifting to a caravan on a permanent site. Just wondered if anyone knows of any. Ideally North or South Wales, quiet, coastal, and with no time limit on how old the van is within reasons. I know its a lot of criteria but am open to suggestions. Thanking you in advance

Can’t be specific, sorry, but there was a question a while back from someone wanting to site their own old caravan on a static site on the N Wales coast. It was clear from the replies that they’d very probably have to buy new or nearly from the site owner. I don’t think we heard the final outcome.
But maybe residential caravan parks are different. Hopefully someone will have a definite suggestion for you.

Hi. I’m prepared to do that maybe second hand; my main concern is that how old does a caravan have to be before they want you off site.

Every site owner or manager probably has a different age in mind.
Froends had an ancient one on a site (not in your area of search) but the site was small, and the owner said if they kept it looking smart, there wasn’t a problem. It was one of those sites where people had full scale gardens around their vans. Kinda homely.
Another friend on a different site (again, not in Wales) had to sell it off site when it was 10 years old & buy another new one off the owner at 100% mark-up.
Just a thought- you might get more replies if you post in the static caravan forum?

There is a huge difference between a residential park and a static holiday-home site. I'm not sure which you mean. A lot of static sites have age limits, usually 10 years or 15 years, although some don't. The one thing they do all usually insist on though is that you buy from them.

Residential parks on the other hand, operate in a completely different way and are governed by laws that don't apply to holiday homes.

Best Regards,
Colin
