I am going to be going from Portree to Dingwall in Sept . The sat nav show the route as being through tge Lochcarron road to Dingwall my memory of this road is old am i right in saying its single track and if it still is is it wise to tow on it or am i better going via Loch Ness road.

Google shows A887 and A836. From memory (a couple of years ago) both are single carriageway but not single track. Or if they have single track stretches, they’re well sighted. My OS maps for there are old too!
Loch Carron route is twin track, bar section along lochside from Strome Ferry to Attadale. There some wider sections on this bit, but be wary and watch out for the wee tunnel built to protect from the rockslides - visibility forwards to see oncoming traffic isn't great as there's a curve just after the tunnel. Not been on the road from the head of the loch for a while, sorry but think that there's a shortish section of single track just after the junction, but as Fiona says, views are good so not really an issue, just the usual common sense.
