Missed last year at Hourtin (SW France) because of restrictions, first time for 4 or 5 years we haven't been (ended up with a week in a mobile home in Skeggy in September in the end). I was furloughed for 3 months last year so carried over 10 extra days holiday into 2021 so we took the plunge and booked 19 nights at Hourtin late July to mid August. Only Euro200 deposit so OK if we don't get to go. I'll wait a while before booking channel crossing and mid-journey hotel though cos that adds quite a bit.
Made me laugh when Grant Shapps said 'don't book anything' last week (2 weeks ago?). Did he not realise everyone was booking everything on the off-chance and it was already probably too late cos everything was pretty much booked up - I suspect he doesn't do much camping. He'd have been better off saying nothing...
If we don't end up in France (for a second unfortunate year) I'm looking at maybe the northernmost part of Scotland (to generate the similar no-WiFi etc. culture shock that a summer holiday needs to be for teenage children of course).
Kids and dog mean we can't be flexible really so we've had to take a punt.
Cheers all, Lloydie
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
I am staying away from Cornwall, and have booked one short trip in an adult-only site in North Devon in August.
