Hi
Anyone else noticed that with a caravan it is becoming harder to book a Fri sat night away.
Seem to be loads more just booking Sat night and nothing either side.

Not quite sure why you say that it's with a caravan that it's harder to book, but to say that loads more are booking just the Sat night is jumping to conclusions. Quite a few people book Saturday to Saturday, work patterns have changed a lot, and not everybody has Sat/Sun off. I know a lot of hairdressers, to name just one profession, are closed on Mondays, I think there will be others who don't follow a Mon-Fri work pattern.
Anyway, once the deposit system is introduced, things may improve, at least that's what some are hoping for on CAMC's forum!
I can book Fri night and Sun night. On 4 off the CAMC sites I have looked at. But Not Sat night.
For a weekend away.
I stated a fact. Not a conclusion.
So not sure of your thinking on that one to be honest.
And hairdressers what they got to do with it?
They would have to book Sun to Fri as Sat is out.
Certainly noticed it was near impossible to book a week or 10 days away where I wanted to go last year as all the w/e were booked. It wasn't even peak season/school holidays, very much into the low season. I'm happy to do w/e to w/e or mid week to mid week, but couldn't do either! I'm not travelling the length of the country to only stay 2 or 3 days mid week!
Last month I booked a site for Nov, I couldn't book the 9 days I wanted on a pitch with awning as already fully booked for Wed-Fri for the dates I wanted, so had to book a pitch without awning. I've little doubt close to the date some of those bookings will be cancelled and I may be able to transfer my booking to a with awning pitch.
Recently had an email from CAMC saying booking levels were very high this year and last minute cancellations were also very high, so doesn't look any better than last year. Hopefully the new booking rules and deposits will deter some of those inclined to make more casual bookings that block the system but are not taken up.

Ok, you can book Fri night and Sunday night. So how do you know that, just because Sat night is full, there are lots of people who ONLY book that 1 night? As I said, people book a week at a time, often from Sat to Sat, or even from Sat to a week the following Sun. And in any case, there is no rule that says you can't book just 1 night; I know there are some people who'll go out for the day in their MH, from home, a good distance, and rather than drive all the way back home, want to book just 1 night on a site near where they've been for the day. What's wrong with that?
I quoted hairdressers as 1 occupation as an example of the fact that not everybody works a regular Mon-Fri. I'm sure other occupations are available, such as bus drivers, train drivers, NHS personnel, the list goes on. None of those work a regular 5 day Mon-Fri week.
Anyway, as I said, once deposits come into it, things may improve.
As Ina say once the new booking systems comes on stream it may become easier to book what you need. What the Club is, I am sure, is that deposits will put people off booking so far in advance and if they cancel they will have to do that three weeks in advance rather than three days so if you are happy to leave to near the time of going away you may get what you want. I wouldn't hold out much hope of it changing much this year as people who have already booked won't be asked for a deposit as I understand it and I assume they will still be able to cancel three days before. Having said that we are yet to be informed of the nitty gritty of the new system which given that it is meant to go live in April is cutting it a bit fine!!!

How do I know I can book Fri and Sunday on each of those sites that’s how I know.
Because that is the only option I have on site to book.
And for your information I do not work in a Mon to Fri environment either.
All I am pointing out is more seem to be booking the one night at weekend.
That’s fine but it will stop a lot of people going for a weekend as well who do work mon to Fri. And have kids at school.
if a site has 100 pitches, and 50 people book fri/sat night, and 50 people book sat/sun night, then sat is full, but fri and sun are only half full , and they've all booked 2 nights. live and let live.
We had one week on an independent site a while ago that involved us moving pitch twice: I could only book 3 nights [move] 3 nights [move] then a final night [that was all that available at the weekend]. It’s easy to move pitch in a MH but not in a caravan or tent.
I had to be even more inventive for a fortnight touring last year, juggling site availability. I did wonder then if it related to when MH hire started, as they radiated out to the honey spots pretty much in convoy.
I am dreading the new booking system with deposits as it will mean people are less likely to cancel last minute. Due to the nature of some work that I am involved in, I often don’t know if or when I can get away until a day or two beforehand but I never have any trouble getting in to any of my preferred sites at the last minute because I know that someone will always cancel a few days beforehand and I can pounce on the cancellation. If people pay a deposit and don’t cancel then there won’t be any last minute cancellations for me to snap up!

Use CLs/CS like we do, usually no problem and the majority don't want deposits. I was surprised though, on trying to book a site for our next trip this month to be told that it was fully booked.
To be honest I do use mostly CL sites.
Or club rally’s.
It was just an observation that I picked up on looking for somewhere in Derbyshire when I finish my 10 day shift.
