They dont say a lot but just tried a CCC site and it only lets you book from the 1st of April so I presume thats when that club opens for the season besides the all year round sites.

The 'club' is always open. I think you have to telephone the C&CC to book a site any time of year. Look the site up first, then call the Club to book it. Mind, you will have to pay a deposit.
The C&CC club site near me where I normally went for the first trip of the year over the Easter weekend used to close during the colder months and reopened shortly before Easter.
Now, it is open all year round, and they invested heavily on turning grass pitches into hardstanding pitches in the last couple of years.
Makes sense as it is near a city that has visitors all year round.

I can’t answer for the Camping and Caravanning Club but I know that the Caravan and Motorhome Club have different dates for each site. For example I have just looked at 3 of our favourite sites which close over the winter and one reopened on 4th March, one reopened on 11th March and the other opens tomorrow (31st March). If you go to the CMC website and look at the page for a site you are interested in, there is a section about half way down on the right hand side called ‘At a Glance’ and it tells you the opening dates of that specific site.
More and more of the CMC sites are staying open all year now or only closing for the month of January but it looks like the ones that close for winter all open again some time during March.
