Club site?
Not clubsites. As we go on full service pitches and they are like hens teeth on club ones. Even so we are often getting on full service pitches cheaper than club hardstanding electric only.

We have been on 1 site this year where reception gave us a topped up card to swipe against site bollard for our pitch.Plus a £10 deposit for card which was refunded when handing back when leaving. Each card programmed for each individual bollard .Said if run out we would have to pay for a top up at reception. Just come home from being away over the last month and 2 of the 4 sites we were on have already installed card readers on electric ready for use next season. Looks as though this is the start of future trend far from the good old days when we started caravanning in the 70’s at under £2 a night.
Yes indeed, a far cry from then. In those days no site we went on had EHU and they all had a fixed price per pitch regardless of what you put on it. That was up to you. No charges for awnings, not that I saw many, no charges per person, and no charges per dog. Just a charge for the pitch. The good old days indeed.
Used to last 2 weeks using battery, black & white TV, and even then one year came home and wife's car battery gone flat and still enough left in caravan battery to jump start it.

Yes ours used to last well too. I made my own split charging system so that I could charge the caravan battery from the car when towing, or take it off, put it in the car boot and charge it that way if we were going out for the day. Our caravan didn't have any electrics at all when we bought it, just the running lights. Interior was gas-lit. I fitted an electric water pump and fluorescent lighting but we didn't have a TV and still don't when we go away. We have a 12 volt one we could take but we never bother as we probably watch too much at home and it's nice to have a break from it.
I had a look at the C&CC Delamont (it's the only club site they have here in N. Ireland) and for 2 adults, hardstanding pitch with EHU it was coming out at £33 pn member / £42 pn non-member in April, and £38 pn member / £49 pn non-member in July. Well. That rules Delamont out for me - since it's the only club site here if we go to it at all it's at only once per year, so definitely not worth the membership fee plus those prices.

Luxury. Used to wire an old half bicycle up to the battery and make the kids pedal so Mrs Dent could watch Corrie of an evening.

We still don’t have a TV when we’re away!
Neither do we, through choice. We watch far too much at home and we prefer to go out and about when we go away. If the weather's bad we read as we always take a few good books with us and many sites seem to have books campers can borrow. We also have a few games we can play.

Colin

We are finding CL's now charging £20-£24 per night. When it includes electric and a loo am fine with that.
Sill have sites locally charging under £20 with electric and loos but many sites are starting to advertise increases from this month - guess more people are you g to be running heating through the winter.
Appreciate the prices are catching up with independent sites but we generally prefer smaller sites for weekends.
Last time we used our caravan we paid £80 for 4 nights on an independent site in Felixstowe. Beach within easy walking distance. Grass pitch with good toilets, showers, and EHU. They also had a clubhouse of sorts where people could meet up in the dry if it was raining. No bar but you could bring your own tea, coffee, or whatever else you fancied, and sit around for a natter. They had books you could borrow too. There are still good value sites out there but you do have to look for them. I found that one on this website, review left.
