We’re thinking of having a week or so here to avoid Bonfire Night (or more particularly the fireworks on the night and in the run up) because of the dogs, and also to visit an elderly relative in the area. Can anyone advise whether the site is likely to have fireworks going off nearby (the dogs are fine with bangs in the distance, just not in nearby gardens) and also whether there is any decent on-lead dog walking (eg. along the side of the river) directly from the site?
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
We stayed there in 2019, it is the other side of the A1 from the town. Doesn't seem much around it. My only issue with the site is the constant hum from the A1. I would check with the wardens as they do have as permanent chalets onsite so I don't know whether they would have fireworks?
It’s about 2 minutes to scan the reviews for the last 2 years: there’s an enclosed dog walking area, other positive comments.
Google maps shows crops up to the trees along the riverbank, I can’t see a footpath and no recent reviews mention walking into town that way.

Thank you Fiona. I had a look at the reviews and Google maps but thought I might get more specific advice from people on here.
We were there last year, it has a big field adjacent to it where dogs can be walked. It was pretty quiet. Some noise from the dairy opposite but it didn't bother us.
If you go out of the site turn and right, you can walk to Roecliffe where there is a signposted circular walk taking you down to the riverside.
The village pub was good. There were people with dogs in the sheltered outside seating area.

Thank you Dave, that walk sounds ideal for our two. Noise from the dairy or the A1 is unlikely to bother us in the caravan - especially if OH doesn't have his hearing aids in
we have stayed on that site a while ago. the noise from the a1 isnt that much of an issue, but the road outside the site has tipper wagons up and down from 5 am onwards, not a problem when loaded but boy the noise when empty! there is no where to walk your dogs other than the field they have set aside.
i wouldnt count on boroughbridge being quiet with regard to the fireworks, its a busy town!
Thank you for your comments. I'll try ringing the site again (only answerphone the times I've tried so far) and see if they can advise on the firework situation.
In the end we found it more convenient to stay on this site on the outskirts of York for 5 nights to visit our relatives https://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=9624
and then we moved to the CMC site at Bolton Abbey for 3 nights over the bonfire night weekend (reviews to follow).
We heard very little firework noise in either location and the odd bangs we did hear were far enough away not to affect the dogs, so it all worked out well.

Cherry Tree Cottage is a nice little site if you can manage without site toilet facilities. Bus almost outside the entrance takes you into the centre of York (even drops off outside the Railway Museum) at fairly regular intervals. If you don't mind the bus ride it's as convenient as Rowntree Park and a lot cheaper!
We really liked the site and found it very convenient (although didn’t use it to go into York). However, we were surprised how busy the cycle/foot path outside the site was with cyclists, joggers and walkers, but especially by the fact that so few of them said hello (or even acknowledged our presence on the path) as they passed us. Even some other dog-walkers passed by without speaking! I guess we’re just not used to life in a city!
