Not really been to Essex but wondered if there were any suggestions. Prefer a site with hardstandings and close to town or village or on a good bus route with a regular bus service.

Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
On the face of it, it doesn't fulfil your criteria as it's a CL on grass between two villages but it is on the main bus route to/from Chelmsford so it could be an option. It's very easy to get to.

We went to a CS near Maldon a good few years ago, it was a great deal more interesting than I imagined. Can't remember the name offhand.
If you reviewed it, it’ll be in your account details. I have to check mine sometimes for that very reason.
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.

In the south of the county there is Barleylands between Billericay and Wickford and Wallasea
Of course there is the club site at Kelvedon Hatch
None of theses,in all honesty, are terrific
In many ways this could be the ideal site, location wise, but it has some very strange reviews! It seems that the site does not have a conventional reception and seems to be an offshoot of other activities?
I've used a CCC CL at Goldhanger, near Maldon, a few times, but our priority has been as a rally site. We loved it for our purposes.
No hardstandings but the grass is level and never been 'boggy' in the slightest on our stays (and it has pelted with rain!), in fact it's rock hard when trying to hammer in awning pegs!
On a bus route but no stops directly outside.
You can walk into Goldhanger village in one direction, or Heybridge in other direction, along the seawall footpath (bikes, but no vehicles to contends with), which is accessible direct from the camp site across fields. Nice views across the river estuary and of wildfowl and boats (rare old Thames sailing barges based just up river!)
We stayed for a week on Peewit caravan park in Felixstowe last September, and found the area nicer than we expected. The site is adjacent to a large static site, but it was surprisingly quiet. Most of the statics seemed to be unoccupied at that time and most of the people on the touring site seemed to be regulars who go there time and time again, as they all seemed to know each other. All very friendly though. Some absolutely fabulous sunsets from down near the dock area and an interesting little museum down there too.
Beach is within easy walking distance, as is a large supermarket, but no hardstandings. We tend to avoid them anyway. Essex is very underrated in my opinion, there are some really beautiful areas.
A day of all things motorhome and campervan. The show is held both in the main indoor arena and across the grounds. Catering, hot drinks and food options are available. Easy access to the site and free parking included. Win one of five pairs of day tickets
