As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
IMHO it's worth joining for the 5 van sites each club has. Camping and Caravanning Club call them Certificated sites, the CAMC call theirs Certificated locations. They are often in areas where there's no main (club) site, so can be useful. They vary from minimal facilities, ie just a water tap and chemical disposal, to mini club sites, with toiletblock, EHU, hardstanding etc. I personally don't have a preference, we're members of both.

Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
We are members of both clubs too, and would also recommend that you join both. we almost always use small sites. Use the reviews on here and the club websites.

For a four week holiday I think the expense of joining both clubs is excessive, this is why I asked the question which club.

we are going to tour England and Scotland for 4 weeks end of July/August. and are wondering if it is worth joining one of the clubs, if so which one?
First off, are you from the UK and do you have a UK bank account ? You'll need one to join, apologies if you are but it's not clear from your post.
Second, I would go at this from the other direction. First figure out where you want to go, then where you want to stay, and then see if you have picked sites from either club. You need to stay approximately 7 nights to make joining either financially net zero, so figure out if you are going to stay with either club (or both) more than 7 days. Also I find both clubs very expensive during high season, you might find better prices from non club sites. And of course as has been said there are large networks of 5 van CL / CS sites which are cheaper if you want to use those.
All imo of course.

No I do not live in the UK but do have a UK bank account, and thank you for the suggestions, I have just asked herself to work out whwereshe wants to go in Scotland
Like everything in life it is not just down to cost. With either of the clubs you have a pretty good idea about the quality of the facilities you will encounter.
Personally, membership of the Caravan and Motor Home is worth it just for the discount on the cross channel ferries.

CAMC Non-members can stay on full club sites, but pay a £15/night supplement on pitch fees, so if staying on ANY (you don't have to be on the same site!) club site for more than 5 nights with a DD membership payment (£66), or 6 nights with a CC/DC membership payment (£66 + £10 joining fee = £76), you are in profit and covered you membership fee! You can only use the club's CL 5 pitch sites if a member. You may also find you can get your Channel crossing (some ferries and tunnel) cheaper as a member with a 10% discount, so potentially even more savings and reason to join!
Only £5 deposit on a club site booking, fully refundable if cancelled before 21 days of arrival. Pay balance on arrival. Most sites still include unmetered EHU in pitch fee, metered electricity is being trialled at a few sites.
Around 177 full club sites, and over 2100 CLs, plus a number of affiliate sites across the UK mainland, you are buying into the largest camp site network! Even a number of sites on mainland Europe too!
Consistency of standards (regarded as quite high by most users) and rules/protocols is a big draw for many of us, all clearly published in advance, so you know what to expect on a club site, CLs are privately owned so set own rules, but they will have been assessed as fit to join the network. Site details on the web site tend to be pretty good, and even the best access routes are usually included, which can be critical difference between a fraught journey and an easy one!
The club sites are not always the cheapest in an area, but equally CAN be the cheapest! Watch out for club booking offers/discounts that pop up during the season, these can be worthwhile reductions on pitch fees. Often find the club sites are in very good locations.
I may be sounding like an advert for CAMC, but if you plan your trip well, it's easy to justify joining and covering the cost of membership with under 1 week's use of club sites/CLs. I've been a CAMC member since I got my caravan 8 years back, and the membership pays for itself each year with the benefits it brings. As you are only doing a 4 week tour, you need to plan it to see if membership is worthwhile.
Almost certainly difficult to justify joining both clubs 'just for a holiday'. Although I'm not a member, may be worth looking at CCC as well, just to see if camp site locations suit you better, but be warned their web site is not as good as CAMC, and their booking system is a bit clunkier, and less user friendly AFAIK!
I live in Scotland. Probably not worth joining either club for touring up here, unless you want to use a few for stopovers ie CCC Moffat (quiet) or CAMC Strathclyde (very noisy). Very poor coverage of Club sites in more remote areas. Plenty of excellent independent sites, use the UKCS site search.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
