DK - it might have changed: £10 at CCC Culzean - I asked after we’d arrived, but that was a while ago.
A few years ago, the grass verge along the road to the Rosemarkie site was nose to tail with MHs & campervans stopping overnight for free - if people use their own facilities on sites, it must be galling when others have the same views for nothing. But maybe that situation has changed since too? (I’ve seen people from a MH parked up overnight in an adjacent picnic area go to another club site showers. A bit cheeky, our fees went towards them being cleaned.)

When I booked Rosemarkie C&CC for Scotland in July 2025, I selected 'No Awning' as I only had a wind-out awning, to find the pitch I was allocated was VERY narrow and not permitted to wind out the awning.
To make it worse, the unit next to me had its access door facing mine, had 2 yappy dogs and liked to play loud music not to my liking.
Since then, I shall always select 'With Awning' so that I would be allocated a wider pitch as suggested by their staff at Rosemarkie C&CC.
I checked and the prices are the same!

AFAIK CAMC pitches are the same price whether they are deemed 'awning' or 'no awning' pitches (certainly been the case on sites I've booked), the only difference being they can direct 'no awning' bookings to the smaller pitches (designated by blue marker pegs, as opposed to white pegs), which otherwise may go unnecessarily unused.
Some CAMC sites give you keys to the otherwise locked toilet/shower blocks, that prevents all and sundry utilising facilities paid for by legitimate campers.
Last CL site I stayed on, the next door neighbours had parked their MH 'nose in' for no obviously good reason, so their habitation door faced my door, quite literally - my door is towards back of caravan, their MH door was towards the front! There was a scrappy hedge between pitches that provided some shielding, but it did annoyingly mean I had to be constantly vigilant about my dog spotting their comings and goings and either 'protesting' about their close proximity and obvious noise, or wanting to go say 'Hello'. When people park 'normally', my dog is pretty indifferent to them, but dogs are territorial and 'too close' gets their attention with whatever consequences.
Some complain about the 'petty' rules of CAMC sites and vehicle placement, but I often find they are beneficial in giving the best privacy in a limited space.
Neither the Camping & Caravanning Club ( C&CC ) or the Caravan and Motorhome Club ( CAMC ) charge for awnings. - fact
Anyone who says they do is talking rubbish
To clarify, same price for a pitch with or without awning at Rosemarkie C&CC, just difference in the width of the pitch.
Had I specified 'with awning' when I booked, I would have been allocated a wider pitch as informed to me by the wardens when I checked in.
No van was parked outside the campsite on the grass verges when I was there.

I don’t care if I’m talking rubbish re CCC. Wanted me to pay £10 several years ago, so I didn’t use the wind out. They do measure (ie limit) the size of your attached awning which CAMC does not.
CAMC- same price with or without awning, different pitch width.
Surely you have to take campsite prices in the round. It's the total price per night you have to compare. Some campers might appreciate a lower price if not using an awning. I wonder if charging for awnings came in when pitches were mainly grass and awnings can cause a lot of damage which is coctly to repair. When sites charge for dogs I wonder if the charge is there to discourage campers bringing pets? Perhaps it does make you appreciate the relatively simple charging structured used by the two Clubs?
I don't see the rip off everyone knows the two businesses { clubs )
are way too much and certainly out of touch with what a fair chunk of their membership, but there are peops that pay it and seem quite happy also their rallies are or were cheap now rapidly increasing for some reason.
If I'm camping with no particular site or area in mind I still wont pay more than £15 for just a pitch. With electric I might go to £20 but I don't need electric.

Simply put, supply and demand. There seem to be fewer places willing to allow rallies and those that do know this and are raising their prices.
The menu pricing the OP is complaining about is pretty typical in France, you pay for your pitch, then extra for electric, etc, etc. So it's nothing unusual.
Also, on the subject of awnings, AFAIK, the two main clubs don't count wind out type awnings as awnings, these are considered as being canopies and aren't charged for.

I can't remember a time when I saw a site under £20, with or without EHU, which we do need if for more than one night. Finding sites for under £25 is becoming increasingly difficult, and most that do charge less than that probably have metered electricity on top. This is why we upped our maximum price to £30 all in this year.
I mostly caravan solo, with a dog and an awning, as much as I'd love to find sites at less, I have to accept that £25/night is the minimum I'll find, and up to £30 may have to be tolerated on some sites at certain times. From what I've seen, metered EHU is on top of those figures if not bundled in!
I've yet to find a site that does 'accumulative' pricing where dog, awning etc. cost extra, to be viable, so have so far avoided them.
I really like CAMC CL sites, but they are rarely cheap options these days, I've even seen some more expensive than nearby full Club sites, but with few exceptions they now seem to charge much the same as any other camp site!
I take a fair number of pops at CAMC on a number of points from time to time, BUT I have to say, because they charge per person, they often work out economic for me. I've stayed on a couple of their sites this year at around £24/night all in, I really can't complain at that.
Where you go, and when you go has a huge impact on pitch fees. Fortunately, I mostly avoid school holidays, which helps, but I suppose I prefer slightly off the beaten track as well, so sites NOT in the heart of touristy areas either! I also give a VERY wide berth to 'all singing, all dancing' Haven type sites with a shed load of 'facilities' I will NEVER use!
Economic camping is still possible, but no where as easy to find as it used to be, you have to work at finding the right sites, not assume 'it's a camp site, it'll be cheap' as was far more common back in past times!
I understand what colin and Monty are saying it is difficult to find sites but they are around the one I use near Swanage and one I use near slim bridge are sites I have used for years they both left the big clubs cs/cl system years ago due to the constant pressure to put up prices, as far as I know one now use another group to provide their licence the other applies for exemption certificate on their own.
Obviously its easier having a fully self contained camper/motorhome to find cheaper sites just last week we stayed 2 nights on Winchesters coach park £7.50 24 hours wouldn't suit everyone but we just wanted to do the Christmas market
