hi all,
i'm starting to plan a trip to South and West Wales next summer, possibly The Gower and maybe Tenby area. as we love beach days out but car parking seems a bit sparse in those areas, or at least very expensive parking , or not easily accessible beaches, can anyone recommend decent beach parking around those areas
thanks Stu

Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
https://www.pembrokeshire.gov.uk/tenby-car-parks/tenby-multi-storey - £ 6/day is not expensive, but it’s not at the beach. Could you leave the car & go by train?
I have read the Gower is beautiful; certainly no shortage of sites thereabouts: another thing to enjoy planning!
I am pretty sure that you can park on the beach at Pendine Sands. Miles of beach where several speed records have taken place.
I wouldn't bother with Tenby, nice as it is. Tried to drive in last June. Took about half an hour, couldn't find anywhere to park so gave up.

yes i've visited Pendine, and went to the motor museum there, and parked in the small car park, but diddnt know beach parking was available, i'll look into that, thanks

not an option really, as too much beach stuff to cart there.
thanks Mrs Bonce, i'll check out Newport beach too
We visited Pendine Beach car park was very close but limited access to some part of the beach until after 4:30pm on the week days we were there due the MOD site Pendine Beach
Another excellent beach we visited was Oxwich Bay (The Gower and Three Cliffs Bay ) area we parked in the edge of the beach but like you say not cheap it seems the norm these days. Oxwich Bay Beach
We also visited Tenby South Beach again parking was close but very busy and hourly rates weren't too bad. But we thought well worth it to spend the day there. South Beach Car Park
Pembury Country Park had a nice beach car parking close and good walking access. Pembury Country Park Beach
All of the beaches were dog friendly

thanks very much ,"meandmygal" , for those links, actually pembrey country park parking charges aren't that bad considering the facilities in the park, £8.50 for all day or £30 for a week, thats if those prices are up to date

Thanks G#Winger, glad the information might be of some use. Their is a CAMC site at the entrance to Pembery Country Park.

I don't know if it's still the case, years ago you used to be able to drive on and stay all day at Newport beach. North Pembrokeshire.
Parking on the beach at Newport has now been stopped
