We were down in Heacham yesterday (west Norfolk coast) and saw there was a small basic campsite "Hunstanton Camping & Glamping" so popped in for a look. Essentially a field next to a farmhouse with lots of pitches, no hedging between. Some gravelled, some grass.
EHU available
Loo block was probably an old stable and facilities were....rustic. clean, but very no frills. Showers were the domestic type in shower trays with curtains.
Two sinks under cover for washing up.
But we thought potentially do-able for a night or two.
So checked the price.
For a non ehu pitch for our 4x3m Robens four berth, for three nights.....£203. Nearly SEVENTY pounds a night. 😳
We've booked a three bedroom static now for the same weekend, for the same price.
To add, the all singing all dancing site along the coast with pools, club, entertainment, top of the range facilities was asking £160. Not our cup of tea, but even so.
Have looked on here and reviews are mostly similar - rip off for level of facilities. What a shame, as it's a lovely location and no other campsites that take tents there.

I have come across a few similarly priced sites as I have been looking for places to go this year, and as you found with this one, many of them are pretty basic so the price seems absurd. There is one site we found where the price is similar to that, but they have ready erected Isabella Villa awnings on the expensive pitches so the price kind of makes sense, but other sites we have found only have basic toilet and shower facilities so we find it really difficult to understand the pricing.
A couple of sites we like to go to, we do pay what I consider to be an over the top price for, but nothing like the price you have found. We only grudgingly pay it because we want to be in a very specific place for a very specific purpose and this is the only site that meets our requirements, however, it is worrying that more and more sites seem to be putting their prices up and up to what I would consider unaffordable for us.
Sticking with C&CC club sites as much as I can now that I can get their concession rate which is one of the good things about being 60+.
I like C&CC and CAMC as they operate per person charging.
Some of the sites, if not all, that are frequently listed in 'Top Ten' polls are not for me as they do not offer a single person discount (not going to get into yet another discussion about this ), and the prices are too high for my liking.
The only exception is for a trip during August and I would pay more for staying on an adult-only site even if it does not offer a single person discount.

CAMC £57 pn members age concession last holiday weekend, price goes up in popular times. Independent site (CIC - community interest charity) this coming holiday weekend £35, price doesn’t vary. (And its toilets & showers don’t close 10:30-12:00, they’re cleaned during pitch handover time. Security barrier, dog walks, etc.)
We do use Club sites if I don’t have time to research independent sites, or if it’s in an area we want to go to. But we don’t use CCC sites often enough to justify the membership, because the ones we’d like to use don’t allow single nights: crazy.

I didn't realise the CAMC did age concession, I thought it was just the CCC

CAMC offers age concession??? AFAIK, only C&CC offers that last time I checked!
The only independent sites I would recce for are Adult-only sites for trips during the summer holidays nowadays.
CAMC has an 'Adult-only' filter now and they have a handful of 'Adult-only' club sites, woo hoo!

AFAIK (and I've looked, as would qualify!) CAMC do NOT do age concession rates! But CCC do them. Think you've got your clubs muddled Fiona!
Variable pricing, many sites operate 'dynamic pricing' that varies with demand, one reason I make a point of avoiding BH/School Hols whenever possible! I regularly stay on CAMC sites, and sometimes with a bundled offer, they can come in at circa £24/night for just me, for all inclusive pitch (EHU, Dog, Awning etc.), which I have to say is VERY acceptable to me. I am aware that some CAMC sites charge much higher pitch fees, but they don't get my custom, and I'm rarely shy in condemning the higher often uncompetitive rates as inappropriate for a club!
As to Toilets/Showers being closed for a period for cleaning, and it varies from site to site depending on how many toilet blocks they have, so long as it's well published (and every CAMC site I've been to has done that) I can't object, I'd rather the CAMC impeccably clean facilities than some I've seen elsewhere - one of the reasons I favour CAMC sites, standards are high and reliable!
No one night bookings are a double edged sword! On the one hand I've had many potential longer stay bookings thwarted by a single night being fully booked in the middle of my intended stay, but on the other hand, I've looked to break long journeys with a single night stay, so can argue pros and cons to both sides! AFAIK, CAMC don't operate any bar on single night bookings.
With the emphasis moving away from caravans which tend to be for several day stays at least, to touring MH/Campers who often stop for a night before moving on, it would seem demand for single night bookings may increase!
Currently there are 4 CAMC club sites that are Adult-only, at least one of them which is in or near the Peak District is on a trial basis for 2026.
Can't book for 2027, however, if this site continues to be Adult-only in 2027, then I shall book for August 2027 right away as it has good reviews!
As for no one-night booking, that I can understand especially during busy school holidays. Some independent sites have the same policy. Good job CAMC does not currently disallow overnight stays!

We have stayed at Diglea site before, in Snettisham. They seem to take most camping units and we found their prices to be very reasonable. Bearing in mind we think of anything over £30 a night now as EXPENSIVE! I don't know how they compare this year though, as it was a few years ago that we last stayed there.
I think it was in September that we went there as we never go anywhere when the schools are on holiday as everywhere is too crowded and too expensive.
We went there as an alternative to Sandringham C&CC site that we have been to many times. Diglea were cheaper even with our C&CC seniors discount.
We were at Deepdale at Burnham last week - just 20 minutes up the road. Take campers and tents £31 per night. Electric extra cost us £3 per night to run everything including heating.
We stayed at Sandringham club site for 1 night for £39 all in and yes they take tents.
We find plenty of sites around the low £30 mark but you have to research them out.
Plenty of CLs for £25 or less still. There is one at Burnham on Crouch for less than £20. All have EHU but not all have showers and loos. Nothing wrong with most of them. I don't understand why folk don't do more research. I always do, it's not difficult.
