Plan to visit the museum at Beamish in early September.
I'm not familiar with that area, so can anyone recommend a site near near it. Campervan + EHU for 2 adults.
Thanks.
------------- Two drifters off to see the world.
I'm tired of reality, so I'm off to look for a good fantasy.
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
I don't know the Beamish campsite, but reviews aren't great.
We have however stayed at Durham Grange which is fine if you choose a pitch away from the traffic noise. If you fancy a trip into Durham, the park and ride is just across the roundabout, but might be a bit hairy on foot.
If you are in the area, it would be a shame to miss out on seeing Durham Cathedral.
We have also stayed at Finchale Priory campsite which is picturesque, but nothing else other than the Priory is walkable from there. Locals pronounce it "Finkle"
Agree with above that Beamish museum is really interesting, But!! avoid school holidays and bank holidays.
I can also recommend a trip to nearby Seaham if you get nice weather for an hour or so (Lamproom cafe/bistro is lovely, booking advised)
CAMC Durham Grange: never again. Stopover in emergency only.
Next time we’ll stay at the rowing club in Durham, because the city is certainly worth a day or two.
The Beamish museum isn’t particularly close though. We drove past on our way home & it wasn’t close to Durham. Two different destinations, both worth a day or two.
We live on the north side of Durham City and visited Beamish yesterday. It’s a 15 minute drive from our house so I’m not sure how close you want to be. It’s also 15 minutes from Durham Grange CAMC.
A day of all things motorhome and campervan. The show is held both in the main indoor arena and across the grounds. Catering, hot drinks and food options are available. Easy access to the site and free parking included. Win one of five pairs of day tickets
