while we were at the c&cc site near york (sheriff hutton) we went to look at the slingsby site this was a lovely site. small village. walking distance, nice walks and bike area. we did wish we were staying there. its very close to castle howard, almost in their grounds. this was a really nice site with new toilet block the site managers said it was a station and disused railway line.
i dont know if this is the type of site you are looking for but i hope it helps.
Lovely site at Ripley Harrogate, Riply caravan park 01423 770050 styed there a couple of times nice quiet site large pond in middle of site ducks roaming around really nice, not far from York.
Caravan Club have a site at Rowntree Park, only 5 minutes walk into the city. Excellent. The wardens in May when we stayed were the best we have met. Lots to do without taking the car out too.

hi, thanks for all the information, we stayed at willow house caravan park for 2 nights, approx 3 miles outside of york, park & ride etc, never been on a bus for years, so this was fun. willow house park was just WOW, very very clean, lovely peaceful site with lake, with great owners , hope to stay again for more weekends, next time the sun comes out. we have also stayed at the thirsk racecourse site, been going for a few years now, not a bad site, ideal for walk in thirsk , shops, some great pubs, ideal for weekends away. we are now going to try a few the sites mentioned in the forum, so fingers crossed for some good weather. thanks again.
