Would be grateful for your advice

First time pulling a trailer for real to a campsite so a bit nervous so reasonable access would be good.  Do not like overdeveloped sites. Tap essential, loo would be good, and a shower would be lovely bonus. Definitely not a site with a bar or a restuarant..... not us. Reasonable distance to sea a good idea...

Party will consist of myself and my sister in law, with her two sprogs aged 5 and 3+ and my two monsters aged 16 and 15.

Have always fancied the Hartland area, we have always been perpared to walk to a beach to leave behind the crowds.

Hope someone out there can help, hoping to go next week.

Hi,

We have been to Channel View in Barbrook (up the road from Lynton and Lynmouth) a number of times. The site is really clean and well organised and the owner is a really friendly chap. Only a couple of swings for the younger ones, but my two (8 and 2) have always managed to make friends whenever we have been and we have the tears a bed time when they don't want to say goodbye. Theres a good little shop and tea room on site.

Have never pulled a trailer but don't think it would be too much of a problem as although the roads are steep they're not too windey. Let me know what you think if you do go.

Reporting back..... Did try the Channel view campsite but because going with sister in law with additional car they quoted £22.00 a night for a basic pitch, which thought was a tad expensive.

We ended up in this wonderful site with virtually zero facilities, ie tap and chemical disposal area, and we just had the most wonderful time.  Views across the Bristol channel, children had a huge field to romp in and very few other campers to bother.  Two teenagers mixed with a 5year old and a 3 year old played happily together and the other campers were kind enough to say that they really enjoyed watching them play together.  Good hills for number one teenage son who did fifty miles one evening taking in the infamous Porlock hill, yes he really did cycle up the thing apparently being clapped by passing motorists. We forget a large number of tent pegs which was a problem when we had a storm but somewhow the effect of the awning behaving as if it was a bat just reduced us to laughter, we just got mopping and carried on.  The only tears we had was from the five year old who just hated us packing up to go home.

The caravaning and camping clubsite nearby can I just say the people there we so helpful and friendly even though we were not staying there.  They actually directed us to this minimal site having quickly realised that would be more our type of camping.  If you wanted a more civilised form of camping I think it would be a wonderful site, they were just so lovely.
