Yes, South Wales sounds good for you. You probably don't need to go quite as far as the Gower if time is a limiting factor. I think Ogmore-by-Sea beach allows dogs - it certainly did in April when we took our Golden Retreiver.

We have a German Shepherd. when she was a pup everyone came to stroke the German Shepherd puppy. Now shes full grown its avoid the Alsatian. Same dog, just as friendly, its just peoples perceptions. She is one of the family and comes with us.
Like ang/ken we also welcome dogs and don't charge, we also have dogs 2 gsds ourselves and find that all dog and children owners on our site respect one another, if either faction doesn't then they get short shift from us.
Before this debate starts again - We also have an enclosed dog walk, and whilst it is not huge it does seem to prevent those dog muck problems arising on the pitches, up to now everyone has got there dog to the area for that sort of thing and then we provide the facility for getting rid of it.
The beaches close by are sectioned into dog areas and children areas, this is particularly effective as one beach is over 4 miles long!

We have just returned from a great site in Osmington, Dorset. Eweleaze Farm. It is only open August but takes dogs off the lead and had a great pebble beach on site. Our two had a fantastic time, and they were well behaved as were all the other dogs on site.
Scott's Farm East Wittering, West Sussex. Dogs welcome, dog walking field, beach short walk. Local council even supply poop scoop bags and plentiful bins. Open March to October.
If your dog has been unwell, a change of scenery, fresh air and an opportunity to spend time with you and lovely walks will do him/her good.
We have 3 dogs and when we camp in this country they come with us all the time. As previously said there are lots of campsites which will take dogs (some charge ridiculous prices, but that's another story!) but in the summer there are areas which will not allow dogs on the beaches, so worth checking this on the web before you go.
We've just come back from Dorset and although lots of the main beaches did not allow dogs,(Lyme Regis, Seaton etc) on the same stretch of beach but to the right or the left of the main front beach they did. The weather was glorious and we tended to walk our dogs in the morning or the evening when the weather was cooler for them. Throughout this area wherever you went there were huge water containers outside shops and pubs filled with water for the dogs, we were very impressed.
Go and enjoy your holiday and take your dogs. My dogs love camping and for me it makes my holiday complete with them!

We always take ours they love it as much as we do. I do though think and have said times before, that dogs should be kept on leads at all times and if people contine to let thier dogs roam then they should be sent off the site.
Just because I love my dogs I don't expect everyone else to. As a dog owner I have to respect everyone else on the site.

Hi we have a rescue dog who had had a pretty rotten life before we adopted her. We have taken her away with us to the Lakes and Blackpool. She loved it. She had more time outside and walking than she gets at home and she loves it. When we went to Blackpool for the weekend we heard lots of negative comments about dogs on sites. This was mainly due to a dogs wandering the site for 8 hours while its owners had a day enjoying themselves in Blackpool. It spoiled it for all uf us responsible dog owners and also all the children dodging poo all over the play area. It's people like this who spoil it for the rest of us. Don't blame the dogs blame the irrisponsible dog owners out there. If you don't like dogs on sites then visit a non dog site. simple. There are plenty of them out there.

I have a rescue dog too and hes been away with us loads and LOVES it, and we love having him. Id never let him run up at anyone, you never know whos got a phobia about dogs and its not fair to force them on people. I would like to point out that it doesnt help when people go up to a strange dog, or encourage theier kids to poke at them, you dont know how friendly the dog is or isnt and theyd be the ones complaining if they were bitten after sticking thier hand in a strange dogs mouth! Also, as my dog is a bit nervous still from whatever happened to him before we got him, I get very mad at owners who let thier dogs run free around sites, especially with all the signs telling them not too-and when they let thier dogs poo outside our tent I get VERY mad!!!

Our dog is still very nervous and probably always will be. I too get angry at dogs running loose. Cassie (our dog) is not good at mixing with other dogs to be honest I don't think she'd seen one in her past life. She likes my children but not others and she's not keen on people either. It took her 6 months to get used to my mum and she calls round most days. She is on a lead at all times when we are away I don't really know her full history and therefore can never be 100% sure of her reaction to something she hasn't experienced before. She's never been vicious just cowers at times.
I will never understand how people mistreat dogs. So to all those anti dogs on site people, you don't know how much that holiday may mean to that dog.

Just come back from Black Rock Sands camping and touring park Porthmadog. We took our dogs with us, a Lab puppy and our 10yr old German Shepard, just nip over the sand dunes from the caravan and your on the beach, and our dogs loved it in the sea. And as for what wildie said, I think you are more likely to get attacked or threatened by a nasty person than by a nasty dog
