Has anybody stayed at the Leisure Lakes Caravan Park near Southport? Booked to stay for 4 night over the bank holiday weekend. Doesn't have a web site and cannot find any pictures etc on the web.
Any views or comments would be appreciated.
I hope it is ok!!!

Go somewhere else! I have never actually stayed and to be fair it has changed hands since I last looked so it may have improved. But last time I looked at it with a view to enquiring about a seasonal pitch I would not stay there if they paid me! However I am near there every weekend so I will pop in for you over this weekend and re assess if you wish. Have you tried Abbey Farm? Brilliant
That would be much appreciated if you could let me know if things have improved we are due to arrive next Friday for 4 nights. I have tried a few camp sites including Abbey farm but they are all booked up, i should have organsied it earlier !!
I just hope that by changing hands it has improved!

Went round leisure lakes last evening. it was awful. Caravans are close together. The vast majority are seasonals and the grass round some was nearly up to the windows! some had at least 6 windbreaks round them making a territorial area. there is one toilet block as far as i can see. Could not get in as key operated but if anything like last time I would not bother with them. Next to the golf academy there were a load of tents crammed together and across from the playground was [I think] a rally. It is definitely not my cup of tea! If you want a western evening, jet skis screaming all day, kids all over the place and what looks like a poorly kept site then you will have fun. Otherwise I would try and find somewhere else! Sorry but better knowing now so you can try!! I took a couple of photos but am not sure if I can upload them to this group
Thanks David, i have been trying to find somewhere else but without any luck, i will turn up on Friday as planned and if no good give it a miss, but things not looking good!!!

April 2008. MY ADVICE IS DO NOT GO THERE........... Stayed at this site for one night only. That was too long. We had booked for a long weekend and paid up fully on arrival. 15.00 a night for the dirtiest looking, manky, muddy, hideous pitch we have ever stayed on and that included only 6 AMP electric. What a joke! The place was horrendous. I gather most people stay there long term and have permanent pitches and it would seem the wardens/owners just don't give a damn. Anything goes. The vans were disgusting, surrounded by hideous looking wind breakers that looked like they had been washed up on the local beachfront. I was expecting kids with banjos sat on verandahs! Frightening. Talk about the great unwashed! The "club" is something else. Don't even go in there. Your greeter looks like a Gypsy Madam, all covered in rings and is hardly the most welcoming of characters. We did not venture to the toilets because of previous reports. I am so glad we moved the following day. The weekend turned out expensive what with paying two lots of site fees but at least at our next site the clientele were like minded, ie clean, tidy, nice caravans, nice cars, quiet controlled children (not of the corn).
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
