Friends of ours camp at Wareham Forest, thats in that area, there aren't many campsites Swanage way. It is a lovely area to visit.

Thanks for this info - had thought about visiting but will certainly stay away.

We went to Eweleaze near Weymouth - their facilities are very basic but the owner is very friendly and there is a great atmosphere there.  You can have open fires as well.  Don't go if you want luxury facilities , but I would recommend this as one of the best sites I have been to.

Will stay away from Herston

You could try Woodlands 01929 480280 near Corfe Castle not busy and it looked quiet.  They don't have a website. They were not taking bookings during bank holiday but September they may as it's not high season.  We wanted to go there at the weekend if you do let us know what it is like.

Woody Hide is a great campsite , you can watch the swanage steam train go by from your tent flap and wave to the people   its a no nonsense site. and very close to Corf Castle

No caravans on this site, as you have to enter the site by going under a small low railway arch , it is a very nice place , with plenty of space, 1 field if you have a dog , the other field is no dogs allowed.
