Can anyone recommend a nice site in the Scarborough / Whitby area. We have been to Scalby Mills previously but I see it is now a C&C Club site. Has anyone been since it changed hands? Or can you recommend a nice quiet site in the area for tent, 2 adults and a dog?

I think thats the one my brother's at. From what he says it's still the same people in charge. We've just come back from 9 days at Cayton Village Caravan Park which is about 3 miles South of Scarborough. Have a look under the site directory on this site. The reviews mostly say it all. We enjoyed it but see if you can get a pitch on the main site rather than on the camping field in case of bad weather. If pitched near play area, can be a little noisy with kids in evening but camp policy to stop all noise at 11pm, and it seems to work. Camp is approx 1/2 mile walk to the beach.
Other poeaple have mentioned other sites just south, mainly Flower Of May and Crow's Nest. Don't know their policies on dogs & talking to a couple at BH weekend who had just come from FofM said it was noisy.
We have stayed at Flask In between whitby and Scarborough for a couple of nights and it was OK. But found a site of the edge of Goathland between Whitby and Pickering. It's pretty basic as is a working farm think it was called Brow House Farm. It's not the main one right in the village but has brilliant views and is very cheap. We paid £5.00 per night for the four of us in 2 tents. Toilet facilities are very basic, there is a shower. But it is wonderfully quiet and there are loads of walks up onto the moors from there.

------------- if I had 2 fish I'd call name them one & two so if one died i'd still have two
We've been to the CCC site at Scalby Mills, it was really lovely and clean and the wardens were really nice too. Do a campsite search for scarborough and have a look at the reviews, there are loads!

We were at Scalby Mills C&CC site last week and it was great. Although the site was full it didn't feel crowded as the pitches are a good size. The toilet/washing facilities were all spotlessly clean and the wardens were all very friendly and helpful. Our children liked the two play ares and being football mad were very impressed that the site had an area for ball games. I think this is probably one of the best sites we have been on, we will certainly go back to it.
A bit further inland but Upper Carr near Pickering is very nice. Good sized, level pitches and nice clean facilities. Relaxing site, no clubs or anything but nice pub across the road (I'm told, we didn't use it though) Some people were put off by the main road but it didn't bother us.
