Thought I would look on the website at Butlins and was surprised to see that they take tourers. Has anyone stayed with a tourer and if so what are the facilities like. Thinking of going in the October holidays.
Many thanks

Not been camping there, but when we went in a "chalet" we found the whole site to be generally poor (about 5 years ago)
The staff were almost all young kids aged 16 - 20, all seemed to be on drugs or more interested in getting laid than on providing a service to the punters.
put me off Butlins for good, though I had several pleasurable holidays at Clacton when I was a kid
Minehead does still belong to Butlins but I didn't know they took tourers. We stayed like Oscar a few years back and alot of it needed a facelift. Skegness is very nice, they take caravans there, not sure what the facilities are like though for tourers.
Stayed at Butlins in Minehead 2 years ago. We liked it. There was a bit of a chav element but we found the entertainment and the holiday camp quite good. The chalets weren't really up to much though. I looked into camping here before (last year) and was told camping only at Skegness but maybe its changed. Would prefer to camp at Butlins than have a chalet.

I phones in 2002 and they did take tourers, £45 a night!!
The kids love it there, they would have a great time. Minehead has had a massive facelift, the beach included, partly paid for by Butlins. We haven't toured there, we went in a friends static, the kids would love it and we could take it or leave it.
If you search the 'net/ebay, lots of peeps privately rent out their statics.I would love to do Xmas there again.
Hi we went to butlins in Minehead in August this year (we stayed in a privately owned static caravan). There were definantly signs showing the direction of the touring field but we didn't have time to look it did look as if it would be quite far from the main complex though. There is loads to do there & great for the kids it also has a big lake on the site so if the kids like fishing it may be ideal.
Personally I prefered the Butlins in Skegness which we stayed at last year (also in a static) the site seemed much cleaner & the kids loved the private beach although in October it might be too cold for that, it will be perfect for kite flying though. There is also definately a touring site there aswell it is across the road from the main complex situated next to all the static caravans. The main complex is reached by a private subway under the road so it couldn't be safer to get to. On the side of the tourers & static caravans there is a great bar called the Crazy Horse Saloon which was perfect for the little ones who like to go & dance as it didn't get as busy as the main complex bars.
There is so much more I could say about each site so if you need any additional info I will try & help the best I can.
Butlins at Minehead do take tourers. You can find it on their website if you logon to Butlins.co.uk and at the very bottom left hand side you will see a drop down menu which says "please take me to" and you will find the prices for touring. For the October hols they are charging £279 for a week! Will probably stay on a CC site nearby and get a day pass in. Will have a look round the touring part and will do a review when I get back. I have been told that it costs £12 for adults and £9 for children for a day pass.

we stayed at Butlins Touring Park last year, the allow touring caravans but not tents, it is situated at the back of the holiday complex, near the lake, at the end of the large car park.
We stayed for 4 nights that we think cost £100, they also allow you to have your pitch for the season to use as and when you want.
It is difficult to find any information about the touring park, but if you telephone Butlins Minehead ask to be put through to the caravan park. We went in October and were 1 of only 3 caravans on site.
The toilets / showers were old but clean, not sure how they would stand up to the pressure of high summer.
We would use again as the facilities, pool, entertainment, fair ground etc is all included in the price of the pitch, and are excellent As a family of 6 we could not find other accomodation for £100 at Butlins
we went in as day guests last week and were impressed by the swimming pool and some of the facilities, however the general customer seemed to leave a lot to be desired (parents glugging coke and pringles down the necks of their overweight kids etc.) Becca had a great day out but I would not want to stop there. Sorry if I sound like a snob, I'm not really.
Stayed at Butlins for a week last year in june .Basicly its the same as the other butlins sites and i suppose its not quite as big as skegness. the beach is huge and the town is very nice .
If you are going to have a day out then i would avoid going via Porlock hill. You do get a fantastic veiw up there but it will probably take ten years of your cars engine!
There is another road which you can get to via Dunster if you want to travel west to devon.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
