hello all, went to blackpool last weekend, after driving around for an hour looking for a site, i found one surrounded by houses on a housing estate!!........next time am going to wild camp on the front!! seen a lot of van's parked up over night, is it safe??
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
Don't know about that, but we managed to book one night at the Hampton road site for this Friday.apparently it's the closest one to all the amusements, but will check out the front and see what it's like , then get back to you.
It is illegal to camp on the prom road or nearby. If the Police catch you or the traffic wardens you will be fined, wouldn't want anyone to be catch out. There is another small site on St. Annes Road called Richmond Hill and some nice CL etc if you want a small site.
Got back from Blackpool last night, and it seems you can park on the front overnight for free, you have to pay parking meter charges between the hour of 8am and 10 pm ,we took a walk along the prom at about 9 in the morning and there were still motor homes there from the night before and there were no tickets on them. It certainly looks safe enough ,but I'd be a bit concerned about the noise until after midnight, with the trams rattling right by you on one side and the pavement on the other, suppose it's alright if you don't want to sleep till the early hours.
Personally I'd rather pay the £20 and go on sit

I really do need to apologise to you. I rang up the council to check up on parking a camper van on the road (did not want anyone to end up with a fine). They said as long as the camper van was park legal then it is ok to sleep in over night. So again sorry for talking rubbish.
Martin Mere is a excellent site in Blackpool, It must be the easiest site to get to as it is right by exit 4 of the M55 motorway, blackpool Fun Fair is 5 minutes away, Blackpool town centre is 10 minutes away. Plenty on site with a large club, top entertainment on every night, indoor pool, kiddies park & rides, very clean showerblocks & toilets etc, Shops & Bakery, Chippy on site.
Great for Blackpool Lights.

i would agree with the description of marton mere.....football shirt heaven...also friday night is fight night...well every night really...we spent 2 weeks in summer, dirty showers (i complained) and police at show bar every night....please do not book there...we went to eastham hall also..its great there...
I spent a week at Marton Mere the end of August. we took our 2 teenage nieces with us on their very first caravanning holiday. My wife who is a fussy beggar did not have one complaint about the site. The showers/toilets and washing sinks were spotless all the time we were there. There was very little noise from those walking back to their accomadation from the club house at night. Whilst we were there we did not hear or see any fighting or police on the site. Considering the size of the site what's wrong with having and showing passes to gain access to the site? This was introduced after stacit owners requested it. The only complaint I'd make is that the night time entertainment is heavily biased towards younger children. Same site 2 different experiences. Believe me if the site had been a football shirt heaven(?) (oh and by the way my two wear football shirts but arn't trouble makers) with lots of fighting or major problems with behavior by drunken louts, we would have just packed up and returned home, just like we did when we went to Blue Dolphin and faced that there (drove from North Wales, set up, something to eat, packed up and drove home).
