My husband wants to go fishing for barbel somewhere on the River Severn near Shropshire and wondered if anyone knows of any camps sites which are in the area where he can stay.
If anyone also knows of any better areas for barbel fishing he would be grateful for that too.
Thankyou
Love Kay

Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
You can fish on the River Severn at Grimley, Worcs, the normal river or the Bevere Lock is half a mile up stream and worth the walk - excellent barbel fishing!!
You can camp at the Camp House Inn in Grimley itself. Haven't got the number but you should be able to find it easily. Haven't been for a number of years but a beautiful, quiet spot.
Have a look at campsites around bridgenorth some great day ticket water in town and some nice shops it might pay to check river levels befor you go as the severn is in my opinion best fished with colour in it as river levels are dropping loads of hemp seed and pellets but they cannont resist a lump of meat fished over hemp

hooray!!!!
Fished this year for Barbel on the River Ouse at Linton on Ouse 9 miles from York...Basic campsite right on the banks of the river...Jamie(my son) caught his 1st ever Barbel.. 5lbs.... Like the Severn the Ouse is best fished with some colour in it... we got ours on feeders...with cheese on the hook...casters over hemp also worked well.........

Sorry Kay, but I haven't fished the Severn for over fifteen years so I would not like to say what methods are best or in vogue at present.
Use the 'camp site search' button at the top of the page and go into the advanced search mode. There's bound to be loads of sites on the severn.
Lucksall campsite on the Wye has been recommended to me by fishing buddies and my daughter that have camped there in the past. Better stock of barbel than the Severn as well, aparently. If you do book then make sure you specify a bankside pitch, you then get your own dedicated fishing peg for the time of your stay.
Hi Breezy ....... how has the fishing been .......... there's quite a few fishing meets going on down south next year ..... will we be seeing you !!!!!!!!
Hi Cas, hope you're well. Fishing meet?... doubtful... I do a lot of fishing, in fact every weekend when not camping, so when I take Linda away for weekends I leave the fishing gear at home. Only fair.
Maybe at one of the other meets a little closer to home.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
