I was talking to my grandma, she said going to south sheilds was a bad idea. When i lived there, i just used the metro, (i worked in Chichester and lived in Forest Hall) and it was cheap and easy. But i forgot that with a car, we'd have to use the tyne tunnel and pay a toll, unless we went the long way around..... So I doubt my OH would be pleased with that, (hates road tolls.... says we pay our road tax, should have rights to all roads!)
Lizard Lane sounds funny lol Someone suggested Sandy Bay in Ashington, anyone been? any good or is it a dump? Looked at prices, look reasonable, (£19 for 3 nights)

Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
i may be mistaken but I think sandy bay has a bit of a reputation as being rowdy, I vaguely remember hearing something once about people in statics giving them away to anyone who would take them over and pay the site fees, dont know how true it was though ! that site at rowlands gill did look ok though and it would be fairly easy to get to and from
Hi Lynz. Im with jackie on one, the three to choose from would be, Wansbeck Riverside, New Hartley or Rowlands Gill. by far the best within 20 miles of Newcastle.
Where in Northumberland Jackie? Im Stakeford, Just over river from Wansbeck site
shielsy I live in Woodhorn Rd Ashington, - yeah I know one of the worst places to live here. I once took a group of kids to look around the new police station, one of them asked the officer where was the worst place and she said Castle Terrace (my next street). I shouldn't really be surprised my trailer was stolen.

Thanks Jackie...
Might be perfect... i hope it is open all year round!
By the way, thanks for your scary reminder of the christmas time that looms!!!!
Hi Lynz
You haven't given a date for you visit, or have I missed it?. Other than Old Hartley CC site, which closes at the end of this month I couldn't really reccomend any others but it depends on what facilities you want. I'd rather wild camp than go to Sandy Bay yuuuuuk.
Yes Jackie still in force, got sick of the politics of policing the streets, now a firearms instructor.
I was at Ashington when the political correcties were on about the re-generation programme. Perhaps they should have asked the locals what they wanted not what they thought might work.
Dont let them get you down,,,,,,,,, The little varmints are all over, even in Stakeford

Lynz - my daughter lives in Newcastle and twice we've dropped in with the caravan, on the way to Scotland and Lake District. We've used a Caravan Club CL (Certificated Location) - RV Nixon, Seven Mile House, Seaton Burn, Newcastle (just off the A1 about 3 miles from Gosforth) tel: 0191 2362094. It's very basic - big farm yard (hardstanding) and a small field, a tap and a manhole cover to lift for your waste - but perfectly adequate if you don't need a hook up. £4 a night. It's open all year and you should be a CC member
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
