I'm not sure that I'd fancy it in a tent or F/C but there is no problem doing it in a caravan or a M/H. I have camped high in the Alps in France, Switzerland and Austria in the winter when it has been several degrees below and with a small fan heater needed in the evening and a Winter Quilt for overnight it is very enjoyable as well as being extremely picturesque.
I suppose it depends on what you want out of camping. I want an inexpensive way of spending some time in the countryside. As a tent camper and backpacker, I find the most comfortable way of achieving this is by using camping/bunk barns, which cost as little as £4.00/night during the colder months, although (when I ran a car) I have camped in some extreme conditions and a decent sleeping bag has made all the difference between enjoying myself and just wanting to get home to my bed.

Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
never camped in a tent in the winter but i have in our van and its great , we are going away on Friday night for two nights and cannot wait and don't care if its cold and raining
Camped in snow many years ago, although it wasn"t snowing when we set off. Had a great time and we took 3 neighbours kids with us and an Alsatian dog, used the top from the coffee table as a sledge ahhhhhh the memories. Too old to do it now as i like my comfort in van.

ps make sure you leave your car on solid ground devil to push in snow
back to the start you asked camping in the snow, don;t know but probably warmer than freezing temperatures as did it 3 yrs ago minus temperatures in feburary gloucestershire, go camping in a tent in snow weather but not freezing if you can i don'r advice at all.
I have been wild camping, with Land Rovers, in the middle of Wales right through the year.
Gone to bed fully clothed, used two sleeping bags, woken up to ice inside the tent...
love it! Although reading back I sometimes wonder why...
btw, that's why I got my Coleman. I have to have my brew in the morning and gas just laughed at me :-)

I agree with this post - take warm kit and use the pub - can be great fun - if very cold watch your water carrier - will often freeze solid and stay that way!

Go for it!!!!
Get a Quality sleeping mat(Thermarest Basecamp?), and a Down Sleeping bag with a high temperature rating. And a four season tent is advisable too.
The biggest problem, after keeping warm, is the long dark hours. Best solution is the pub!!!
I went with scouts a few years ago, camping fine as long as you have the proper kit. The zip on one of the tent doors froze shut - it was melted in the end by blowing from the inside and the outside. With lightweight tents you may want to take a polythene sheet to lay under your groundsheet so the groundsheet isnt wet straight away.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
