There is an hourly bus service from Scarborough to Whitby, which basically uses the A171 but also goes through Hawsker and Robin Hoods Bay. There are a number of sites near to Whitby Abbey, on the south side of the river, which should be convenient for the bus. Alas the trains now only run through the Esk Valley from Middlesbrough.

Hope you enjoy the trip.

Hi Pabsby

We found a camp site on this website and have stayed there several times. Follow this link http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/results3.asp?search=brow+house+farm&by=sitename

We've stayed at the site in Goathland, Brow House Farm, where they film Heartbeat. In fact the campsite is at the back of Claude Greengrass' house and was very cheap considering.

Amenities are a but victorian but were being refurbed when we lasted stayed therein 2004.

Very close to Whitby, about 20 mins from Goathland and dogs are welcomed. It is a working farm so there are other dogs roaming about freely though.
