You'll need to look on internet and find sites in the area you want. Then contact them to find out. Some do but most don't allow it.

Try fisherground at eskdale, cumbria. Its quite a trek from us(i live in eccleston not far from you),it takes about two hours to get there and its quite hairy but its worth it.The site is at the foot of a lot of hills(someone here can probably tell you what they are).A steam train runs at one of them hills. You pitch where you want.Dont know if youve got kids but its got a adventure playground with a wellie height pond with big tractor tyres floating on it.Pub within walking distance. Not so good toilets and showers but the fact that campfires are allowed makes the site brill.
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
hi whylies got back last monday from dolgamedd in wales poured down with rain at the site but out at barmouth blue skies they allow camp fires on the riverbank you can buy the firewood for four quid a barrow ful the logs are quite big so take an axe
I,ve found most " rough sites" I use allow fires as long as you are sensible. Be warned tho if you want a clubhouse, warm steaming showers etc you,ll be disapointed !!! Theres loads of these little sites all along the River Wye. Expect no more than a standpipe & a portaloo on site tho.
Regards THUMPER.
