Well it looks like we have to find a new site to go to this spring bank holiday, Peppermint park in Dawlish Warren has been our regular haunt for the past 6 years & we have had some gr8 hols there, but looking at there price increases this year we have to go else where. We reckon a week at the end of May has gone up by around £40-00, how can they justify this, I think they are trying to oust the caravans & tents so they can put up more statics & lodges so they dont deserve the custom, what do you think of Cofton Park just outside Dawlish ? is it worth a try ???
------------- Im not really sure its me !!!!!!

we also are regulars to peppermint park and are having to find alternative site for june-july as the price for our usual 2 week hol has risen by £91.
further to an e-mail to them they say the price increase is due to recent renovations(i.e upgrade to 16 amp) and from our last visit in october and talking to the new owmer josh they have had to replace many items the previous owners neglected (i.e new pumps at 1st shower block that chris was having to lift daily.new sit on mower e.t.c)
we are trying ladys mile just around the corner at a cost of £161 for 2 weeks .
so come on peppermint park you have a brilliant site dont drive your customers away
Well personally i highly recommend "Cofton" - if you look at their website or order a brochure - it looks well kept & clean and inviting - that is exactly how it is. It is very well kept, spotless and friendly. The ablutions are clean (except for after a mad rush), but otherwise they take great pride in their park. The facilities are good.
Read the reviews on UKCS and visit Coftons website and order yourself a brochure.
Cofton is our family favourite and we're booked to go again this summer.
Try it - you won't be disappointed!

thanx for that devonfamily, we had a brochure last week but you cant always trust the pickies in them, word of mouth is better, there is a gr8 little golf course in starcross so we want to stay in the area
Yep when you are driving into Dawlish Warren - the golf course is on your right - You pass Cofton on your left - before you turn left to Peppermint Park.
Yep like I say - as you see in their brochure - their pics are not brushed up - to try make it look good - it is exactly as you see it in the brochure.
I lovvvvve Cofton - it's my Fav. Their swimming pools are lovely and clean and a good temperature! They'v got a good chippie on site - for when you are tired and don't feel like cooking - especially after pitching your gear.
Enjoy

well we as a family don't go fishing - but if you look on the Cofton website - there is info on their fishing lakes and peoples fishing stories and pics of big fish that have been caught.
when are you planning to go?

Hi re Peppermint Park, someones written in to the Caravan Club Magazine about the prices and I nearly fell off my chair -.£4 for electric+ £4 for Awning + £4 for a child all PER NIGHT but wait for it + £6 for a DOG . To add insult to injury they`ve got rid of the dog walk too.I haven`t a dog but £6pn for a Dog is outright robbery. What do you think

We had booked to stay in a static at Peppermint in May 2003 - but just by chance I was looking at Villa holidays in Spain and figured out that the price it was costing us to stay in a static - we could rather go to a lovely villa with our own pool for a week. So we cancelled Peppermint - and went to Spain - best decision ever.
What also put me off Peppermint in the past was that nearly every single person who has posted review has commented on how they cram people in during the hols & that put me off.
We are booked & paid to go to Cofton from 20th - 30th July - so we'll get there the day before my son breaks up for summer hols. I'm looking forward to it - just really hope the weather is good.

Blimey - that does sound extortionate. Even with the changes the new owners say they have had to make I think these prices are a joke. The new owners should have done their sums before taking on the site cos I think they will have a hard job enticing back previous regulars with the price hike and new customers - so even if they have got flash new facilities only a limited number of people will be trying them out.
Perhaps the new owners dont want dogs on the site but foe some reason dont actually want to say no dogs. Blimey at £6 per night for the dog I would expect a free tin of pedigree chum at the very least!!
Cofton is fine but does get full in the main holidays. The fishing is quite good, fenced and children must be accompanied. The dog walk is large but on one heck of a slope. I prefer it to Ladymile or Peppermint. You can walk down to the Warren through their own land. Its a long walk but lovely.
