We went on a UKCS meet at New Year to The Vale of Pickering and we found the site to be lovely - will definately try to get back in the summer months. The toilets and showers were immaculate including 2 baths in there too.
Like Val we were at vale of pickering at New Year, have also been there at Easter when there were plenty of tents in their own area, can thoroughly recomend this site.
Another one with no clubhouse is Ashfield Caravan Site, Kirby Misperton.( this is opposite Flamingo land)

Thank you for your replies. I like the sound of the Spiers house in the forest, but the bugs put me off a bit. They seem to find me particularly tasty!
Vale of Pickering sounds nice too, is it really big?
Wolds Way Caravan Site at Winteringham near Pickering is lovely on the top of a hill with good views. Its fairly new so the showers etc are immaculate. We went for a couple of night last March and there were tents there even that early in the year. the owners David and Carole are lovely they had a free hog roast when we were there to celebrate the start of a new season.

It's a shame about the bugs, but I know they would make my holiday miserable!
