Hi were thinking of going to shell island for easter and possible whitsun hoildays, last year we went at whitsun and got there on a sat morning and could not get on and ended up staying in a field by the air base. now i was just wondering when its best to get there? Problem is I work in a school so getting the fridays off is hard but I could do it. So what Im asking is it advisible for us to get there Thursday evening or just get there friday morning before each bank holiday. Many thanks

Hiya,

We go to shell island every year - and yes it is advisable to get there on the Thursday or early Friday morning if it is a bank holiday. We made that mistake one year and ended up on the field like you just by the causeway, only for one night though then we manged to get on the following day. Thats the only downside to shell island, you cant pre-book a space. But once you're on it's fun all the way !!

Becks.
