Yes there are several within 1 mile Tesco Aldi on the nearby Dragonville Industrial estate. See http://www.tesco.com/storelocator/ Grange has been refurbished to a super standard and of course Durham City is just 2 miles down the road (A690). Just like to add there are several major outlets within the same area.
If your considering going into Durham there is a park and ride system just over the roundabout from the site, will save a fortune and major headache on parking,
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
I live about 4 miles from this site, and called in to book a weekend for a friend of mine who was travelling from down south. He had a great weekend and said that the motorway noise did not bother him or his wife ( maybe to many beers) I was impressed with the site

Hope you have a lovely time, let us know what it's like. It's only the second time we'll of been on a full CC site and we're really looking forward to it.
We used this site at the start of January and we didn't find any problems with road noise at all.
The bus service from the park and ride is very good, however you have to cross a few roads (including a big roundabout) to get there so it's not ideal if you've got kids with you.
Durham itself is lovely and I'd also highly recommend a visit to the Beamish outdoor museum which is a few miles north up the A1.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
